MADRID - Let the picking begin.

The 23rd annual Madrid Bluegrass Festival on the banks of the Grasse River starts Friday and continues until Sunday.

Look for fun, food, crafts, camping and plenty of music, according to festival co-organizer Les E. Haas.

“We’re all set,” he said Wednesday. “The tent is up and everything is ready to roll.”

Vendors began setting up Wednesday, Mr. Haas said, and about 60 recreational vehicles with festival fans from outside the area had already arrived and settled in. The town park grounds festival site can accommodate 200 RVs.

The rainy forecast doesn’t bother Mr. Haas. He still expects more than 1,000 people to show up and sit in over the next three days.

“That (rain) doesn’t bother true ‘grassers,” he said. “They just get an umbrella and enjoy the music.”

For more information, contact Mr. Haas at 322-4093 or leshaas@yahoo.com. or through the festival website: madridbluegrassriverfestival.com.
