Cruel Vets

To The Editor:

There is one thing that just makes me so mad with vets in this country. You take your pet to them for all reasons and sometimes even emergencies and all they see is dollar signs and not to worried about the pet.

I have a sister-in-law who had a boxer who was having seizures for five hours and not one vet would even look at him or treat him with out the money first and we even called the sheriffs and they too wouldn’t help us. So I tried the vet one more time and this was 5 a.m., and he finally said yes bring the dog in and this was at the new clinic on 68.

This was a vet from Gouverneur that was covering that night. The fist thing he said while trying to treat the dog he said I want to see the owner of this dog to get the money. Even though he treated the dog, it was too late. His brains were cooked he had a tempof 107.

The next day they went to him, and they brought him out of the drug induced coma.

He had three more seizures and they had to put him down and they still had to pay over $350. But yet if we abuse a dog or can’t afford to take the animal to the vet we get arrested for animal cruelty.

Well what about a vet refusing an animal cause we don’t have that kind of money? Why can’t they get nailed for cruelty. They should have it where if you can’t pay it all there pay in payments because we all love our pets.

They are human and family too.
