A pair of five-run innings carried the Ogdensburg Maples to a 10-4 victory over the Ottawa Nationals in 18-Under Baseball action on Wednesday at Father Martin Park.
The Maples pulled away from a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the sixth where DaKota Brady led off with a single, Alex Hayes dropped down a sacrifice bunt and Jordan Miller and Kinnon LaRose delivered two-run singles. Lefty Arsenault rapped an RBI single in the inning after belting a two-run double in the first inning.
Jordan Miller really had a big hit for us. That one-out single to drive in two runs got us going, said Maples Coach Steve LaRose.
Geoff Baldwin struck out five pitching the first four innings and picked up his first win of the season. Alex Hayes pitched one-third of an inning and Breton LaRose entered the game in the fifth inning with the bases loaded and closed with three strikeouts in two and two-thirds innings.
Brady doubled and singled for the winners, Hayes singled twice, Andrew Cole and Breton LaRose singled and Pat Cosmo scored a pair of runs.
The Maples return to action in a doubleheader at Peru on July 4.
