PROBATION VIOLATION - MASSENA - Village police picked Matthew C. Malu, 24, of 177 Center St., Massena, on an alleged probation violation at 10:50 p.m. Friday at his residence. He was held overnight in the village lockup pending trabsport to Canton for an arraignment in St. Lawrence County Court.

Village police charged Devian J. Fletcher, 18, of 210 W. 146th St., Apt. 2J and Malu, then listing an address of 1841 Central Park Ave., Yonkers less than an hour after an alleged attempted home invasion.Fletcher and Malu were each charged with second-degree burglary. Malu was also charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief for allegedly throwing a snow shovel through the kitchen window at 26 Haskell St. as they were leaving, after not gaining entry to the home.

According to court documents, the men were at the home looking to confront Andrew Courson, who resided there and was home at the time.

A St. Lawrence County Grand Jury handed up an indictment in February charging Malu with second-degree attempted burglary in connection with that incident.

OPEN CONTAINER - MASSENA - Village police charged Nicholas Van Kennen, 21, of 2230 state Route 420, Norfolk, with an open container violation at 1:24 a.m. Saturday after officers observed him in the Andrews Street parking lot near the fire station with an open container of alcohol.
