It seems Mother Nature was smiling on the Ogdensburg Ladies’ Golf Association on Tuesday.

The St. Lawrence State Park was one of the few North Country spots to escape a downpour of rain, as OLGA hosted the first 2013 Foothills match.

Canton finished in first place with Patti Rowen-Lalonde, Gloria Gardner, Lennie McKinnon, Juanita White, and Julie Degone leading the way. They were followed by Massena’s Rose Bronchetti, Claire Wright, Rose Lawrence, Barb Montross, and Loretta Perez.

In third place, Gouverneur’s five low gross were turned in by Dody Hilts, Heather MacKinnon, Bosh Sigourney, Marie Frenyea, and Chris Matejcik.

Ogdensburg took fourth with Jennifer Stevenson, Sue Brashaw, Mary Allan, Donna Doyle, and Beryl Trombley. Potsdam’s lead golfers were Karen O’Brien, Terri Gilchrist, Lorraine Ford, Joyce Doran, and Mary Jane Williams.

Medalist spot for the day was shared by Dody Hilts and Rose Bronchetti, each carding an 89.

In spite of the recent wet weather, Doug Horton and his fabulous crew had the course in top-notch condition.

Many compliments were overheard on the improvements to the course and over-all hospitality shown by the management.

Chairperson, Jean Bracy, would also like to thank Doug, Mel, and Kelly for the great luncheon they provided. Also a big thank-you to all the members who contributed so much to making the tournament such a success.

On Tuesday the local gals will be competing in the annual putting challenge. They are reminded to keep a separate record of their putts. The morning tee-off time is moved up by one-half hour.

Pairings will be made at 8:30 a.m., with play to begin immediately.

The OLGA invites any interested ladies to come on up to the State Park at 8:30 Tuesday, and try a round for a fun-filled morning of giggles and golf.
