To The Editor:
Sixty-two years ago we graduated...can you believe it? Wow. The class of 1951 - St. Lawrence Central high school...Happy Anniversary. I do hope you are well and doing great.
A lot of changes, but a lot of joys as well. May you all feel as blessed as I do, and that I am so proud to have you for classmates and dear friends. What a lot of wonderful memories. True, we all have white hair, and a few extra pounds perhaps, but we are still young at heart. Why I only just turned 80 and like you, can boast grand and great-grand kids. To you all my very best of wishes.
And to the graduating class of 2013, congratulations. You made it! You have excelled and will go far. We are so proud of you and all you have done.
A few words of wisdom (and no doubt unwanted) advice, to remember -
Dont forget to say please and thank-you. Many forget to do so.
You have parents, teachers, friends, who have pushed, prodded, praised, and given you a hand up. They will be glad you recognized them, for what you are today.
Next, do not forget who you are, your parents are so proud of you today, so make sure your decisions keep them proud of you, tomorrow. You have the choice to say no. If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. Do not let someone lead you down the garden path. Be wise as serpents and gentle as doves. Our country and communities need you to help them be strong and forthright in these scary times.
Remember to keep the faith and trust in what is good and true, not just The Golden Rule, but the 10 Commandments as well. Rejoice in life, give thanks to God for all you have and are and when you reach my age, then you can look back, smile, and say been there and done that. God bless you!
