After four years as an employee at the Boldt facilities, I have a few axes to grind and some things to tell the public. During my four years, there was never a recycling project on Heart Island of any type. In the summer of 2012, two recycling receptacles were placed on the main dock. These receptacles did have the proper logos on them. By late afternoon, these barrels were filled with nothing but common trash.
The castle generates 1,000 to 1,500 cans and plastic bottles per day (low estimate). These recyclables go into the common trash. Has the castle become too big now to adhere to the rules of the common person?
This is but one of the unfavorable situations at Boldt Castle and I will touch on five or six more throughout the summer of 2013.
Look for further thoughts on what would George Boldt think.
