Massena overcomes FC Freeze, Dow Electric outlasts Heuvelton in women’s soccer

Massena rallied to beat FC Freeze 2-1 in overtime while Dow Electric outlasted Heuvelton 4-3 in North Country Women’s Summer Soccer action on Tuesday.

Massena 2, Freeze 1 (OT): At Mike Nicholas Field, the Freeze opened the scoring when Emily Sloan converted off an assist from Beth Crowley in the 25th minute for the only goal of the first half.

Nyssa LaClair sent the game into overtime with an unassisted goal in the 79th minute then completed the comeback five minutes into the extra session off an assist from Dominique Valancius.

Jackie Sovie and Lindsay Dennis shared goaltending duties for the Freeze.

Dow Electric 4, Heuvelton 3: Brooke Enslow generated a hattrick in the winning effort while Niki Perkins struck for a solo goal.

Josi Cole paced the Heuvelton offense with a pair of goals. Aliza Pierce netted the other.

Cas Collins backstopped the winning effort.

In the other games played on Tuesday, North Country Collision beat Edwards-Knox 3-1, Norwood-Norfolk and Parishville-Potsdam battled to a scoreless draw, Canton tied Akwesasne 1-1 and Harrisville overpower Brasher Falls 10-2.
