AKWESASNE– Mohawk International Raceway, with the help of Frenchies Chevrolet, returns to action tonight with the second round of the Frenchies Chevy Runs Deep 358 Modified Series along with a full program for Sportsman, Pro Stocks, Mod Lites and Bandits.
Track management will also celebrate Independence Day Weekend with an exciting Fireworks display.
After getting rained out last week, Mohawk Raceway officials are looking forward to getting back to racing this week. Last years Frenchies Chevy Runs Deep 358 Modified Series champion and Mohawk Raceway Track Champion Billy Dunn won the first event of the 2013 Frenchies Series earlier this season and will be looking to capture the 50 lap feature win. It wont be an easy task though, as a great field of cars will be on hand looking to take the win including four-time Frenchies feature winner Carey Terrance, two-time winner Chris Raabe as well as Roy Tarbell and Brian McDonald, who both have Frenchies series victories to their credit. Dale Planck (3 wins) and Matt Billings also have Frenchies Series feature wins.
The Frenchies Chevy Runs Deep Series began in 2009 as Roy Tarbell took home the inaugural championship. Todd Stone claimed back to back titles in 2010 and 2011. Billy Dunn won the championship in a very close battle on the final night last season.
Pit Gates and Spectator area will open at 4p.m. Heat race action will get underway at 7:30p.m. Pit Admission is $30 with DIRTcar License and $35 without. Grandstand Admission is only $20 and children 12-under just $5.
