Clifton-Fine has reorganizational meeting

STAR LAKE — Clifton-Fine Central School’s new superintendent was welcomed Tuesday at the school board’s reorganizational meeting which included the seating of three new board members.

Jeremy E. Thompson, a board incumbent, was elected president. Christopher E. Cooper, a newcomer, was elected vice president.

The meeting was the second day on the job for Regina C. Yeo, who was chosen superintendent after the board failed to reach an agreement with Susan O. Shene, who had been interim superintendent.

In a series of controversial moves, the board in the spring gave Mrs. Shene and High School Principal Brian S. Buchanan 30-day notices terminating their interim positions. Mrs. Shene returned to her previous job as high school principal and the board appointed Beverly L. Ouderkirk as interim superintendent pending Mrs. Yeo’s start.

Eight candidates ran for three seats on the board, with newcomers Christopher L. Westbrook, Robert E. Lachut and Mr. Cooper elected. Voters did not re-elect Michelle L. Durham, Richard W. Hitchman, or Robert P. Tebo III.

Mrs. Ouderkirk will remain a district consultant to work with the board and with Mrs. Yeo, who has not been a superintendent before.
