■ GOUVERNEUR — The town will have a free rabies clinic from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the town barn for dogs, cats and ferrets.

n GOUVERNEUR — The Gouverneur Central School Board re-elected Barry R. Smith as president and Pamela L. Adle as vice president at its reorganizational meeting.

n CONSTABLEVILLE — The Constableville United Methodist Church will hold a free showing of “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” and dessert at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

n FORT DRUM — The 10th Mountain Division’s deputy commander for support, Col. Carl A. Alex, has been nominated for promotion to brigadier general, according to the Department of Defense. Col. Alex arrived on post in June, replacing Gen. Walter E. Piatt in the role.

n CANTON — St. Lawrence NYSARC sold 4,258 certificates for a gross profit of $36,050 in its 33rd annual fundraiser, which concluded June 28. Kristen Karem, Worcester, Mass., won the $10,000 grand prize. Proceeds will support Dodge Pond, which is designed for people with disabilities.
