WADDINGTON - The town has done it again.
Waddington has once again earned a top spot in the Ultimate Fishing Town U.S.A. contest.
Although the town did not officially enter the World Fishing Networks contest this year, it did garner enough votes from supporters to be crowned one of five regional winners.
As the northeast regional winner, Waddington will receive a $3,500 check.
The check should arrive within a week, Town Clerk Carol A. Burns said Monday.
The overall winner of the contest was Point Breeze on Lake Ontario, which won $25,000.
The town placed second the last two years, winning $5,000 each time.
The town council voted Monday to give its winnings to the village of Waddington in support of its efforts to host the Bassmaster Elite Tournament.
The town also donated $1,500 from the towns Economic Development Fund to the cause.
I cant think of a better cause that will help economic development in the area, Council member Robert Dalton said.
