To The Editor:
The Flo Foundation for wildlife rehabilitators is closing in on its first year of existence.
In April of this year we put an appeal in the Free Trader for spring clean up items that could be used by rehabilitators. We would like to thank Deb Denato, the Prescotts, Susan Sewell, Curtis Lalonde and Tracy Adle from the Massena area for their donations. We would also like to thank Bill Barlow from Norwood and Linda Murray from Star Lake. Your donations have helped rehabilitators from Adams Center to Plattsburgh.
In June we held a motorcycle and 4 wheeler run in Norwood. There were other motorcycle runs that weekend and we did not do as well as we had hoped. We would like to thank the Gandy Dancers Restaurant for allowing us to use their facilities.
On Aug. 24 we are holding a 5K walk-run that will be held at Pine Street Arena parking lot. Nationally known chain saw carver Terry McKendree from Hermon-DeKalb has generously donated one of his works to be raffled off. Tickets will be $10 and only 50 will be sold.
We were recently approached to assist a young rehabilitator in Plattsburgh who was in need of cow matts before she could pass her inspection. We would like to thank Ryan, the manager of Potsdam Tractor Supply, for cutting us a deal on four cow matts.
Last but not least we would like to thank the volunteers and people who bought tickets and donated money. Your generosity has helped orphaned wildlife from Adams Center to Plattsburgh.
It has been a very educational and rewarding year. We are currently awaiting non-profit and tax exempt status.
If I have left anyone out or misspelled anyones name, I apologize. Thanks everyone.
