To The Editor:

I am a Vietnam vet and have had a great life, even though 58,000 of my comrades paid the ultimate price for a war we all know now was a sham.

On June 8, 2013 a close friend’s son who called me his uncle paid the ultimate price in Afghanistan killed by a person who he was training.

I’m as guilty as everybody else when I see we lost two or three of our troops and go on with my normal day. The point I’m trying to make is these one or two or three every day that we lose have families that are forever changed by these wars that we should not be getting involved in.

Now it looks like Syria might be our next stop. We have to stop being the police force of the world. We’re supposed to be out of Afghanistan next year and I hope we keep our promise to all these families so they will not some day be greeted by the military at their door to hear their son or daughter has died.
