Winthrop - Allen H. Jackson, 66, passed away Monday, July 8, 2013 at Canton Potsdam Hospital surrounded by the love and support of his family. Arrangements are entrusted with the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop.

Allen was born on August 15, 1946 in Potsdam, son of the late Donald W. and Marion (French) Jackson. A proud veteran of the U S. Army, he honorably served his country during the Vietnam War and remained in the Army Reserves until he received his Honorable Discharge in 1999. On July 5, 1968, he married Donna Partlow in Upper Marlboro County, Maryland. As a couple, their personalities complimented each other naturally. They just celebrated their 45th anniversary of a union built on love, respect, laughter and family.

Allen worked at Reynolds Metals in Massena for 31 years, retiring in 2000 as Fume Control Operator. Not one to be idle, he then accepted a position at the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino as Security Officer for 7 years. In his leisure time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, motorcycling, bowling and golfing. He blended humor into his life and was known for his practical jokes. Allen was a helpful man with a good heart, who loved his family unconditionally and embraced his friendships here and at their home in Ellenton, FL. He was a member of Am Vets Post#4 in Massena.

Surviving Allen is his wife, Donna; two daughters, Jennifer Clark of St. Regis Falls and Lorri and Stephanie Jackson of Brasher Falls; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; three brothers, James and Valarie Jackson, Dale and Debbie Jackson of FL, Kevin and Sue Jackson of Potsdam; his faithful companion, Susie; nieces and nephews. One brother, Kenneth predeceased him.

Visitation will be Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm at the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop, with a Remembrance Gathering at 8pm, led by Rev. Lee Sweeney.
