In just its second outing, the Hoswegatchie Duathlon Series, based at Hosmers Marina in Ogdensburg, surpassed the century mark in participation on Wednesday evening.
We had 41 new people participate tonight and we 107 people on the course which was just great, said Gary Hammond of the organizing committee.
Jim Allott and Amy Hollister emerged as the individual medalists of the night and Yves Dupont and Shawn Paradis led the team division of the event which featured two 1.5-mile runs sandwiched around an eight-mile bike ride.
Allott was dominant on the bike to lead the Mens Division in the best overall time of the night at 43:15. He followed by Luke Dunkleberg (45:32) and Doug Johnson (46:36).
Hollister posted a 53:04 as the first lady of the night and was follwed by Margie Harmer at 54:37 and Jeni Backus at 56:47.
The duo of Dupont and Paradis prevailed a 45:08 followed by Kyle Rhodes and Donovan Smith at 46:04. Tiernan Smith and Ben Hammond registered a strong third place outing at 47:25.
The series, which is open to all participants ages13 and up, is being staged in conjunction with Ogdensburg City Recreation Department and all proceeds are going to the OFA Marching Band.
The third leg will be he held on August 14 .
The registration fee is $5 per race per person and two and three-person teams are encouraged. All entries will receive free refreshments at Hosmers Marina after each race.
