Katherine Anne O’Keefe Shaw passed into God’s hands on July 3, 2013 in Middleburg, Virginia at the age of 44. She was a beautiful woman both outside and in her heart. She was born in Mount Kisco, New York to John and Barbara O’Keefe of Ogdensburg, New York. Katherine is survived by her parents; her loving brother John and Sarah O’Keefe of Manchester, Vermont, nieces Daisy and Siobhan; her devoted sister Heather and Michael Mahoney of Hudson New Hampshire, niece Eibhlin and nephew Sean. Also missing her are her beloved grandmother, Dorothy Perry, formerly of Pleasantville, New York; her aunts and uncles, cousins and many dear friends and coworkers.

Katherine “Kathy” graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy in 1987 and State University College at Oneonta in 1991. A lifelong learner, she was pursuing a Masters in Public Administration from American Public University at the time of her death.

Katherine always took pride in her work. She was a dedicated employee and loyal coworker. Katherine was a Community College Relations & Outreach Transfer Services, Senior Manager at American Public University System in Charles Town, West Virginia. She had previously enjoyed working with students and staff at Olin College, Argosy University, Bay State College and Massachusetts College of Pharmacy. Earlier in her professional career she worked as a Layout Editor for the Massena Daily–Courier Observer.

Katherine will be laid to rest beside her grandfather on Saturday, July 13 in Pleasantville, New York. A visiting hour will be held at 9 AM at the Beecher Flooks Funeral Home at 418 Bedford Road in Pleasantville, New York, followed by a funeral mass at 10 AM at Our Lady of Pompeii Catholic Church in Pleasantville, New York.

A Celebration of Katherine’s Life will be held in Ogdensburg, New York at a future date.
