The state Department of Environmental Conservation will hold four free workshops in August on alternative land care and pest management.
The workshops will cover topics like plant selection and planting techniques, soil structure and testing, and minimum-risk pesticides. The workshops are part of DECs Be Green in the Great Lakes Project, funded by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
The events will be held in Amherst on Aug. 2; Rochester on Aug. 3; the Italian-American Civic Association, 192 Bellew Ave., Watertown, on Aug. 8; and Syracuse on Aug. 9. The sessions will run from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
