To The Editor:
I was pleased to participate in the send-off ceremony for the Lisbon Central School Marching Band on July 2.
Students, their families, faculty and community members attended this exciting event.
This is a great example of a community working together to create an experience for their students which I can only hope turned out to be one of the best of the students lives. Playing at the July 4th festivities in Washington D.C. gave these students the opportunity to see Washington and participate in the nations Independence Day celebration. I hope it also gave them an appreciation for their great country, the importance of July 4, our Constitution and for their community, who helped fund their trip.
We in the north country are excellent at coming together to do good things. In this instance it is clear that the community did something that was extremely beneficial to our young people. I hope that the confidence they gained establishes the knowledge that rural America can compete with all of America.
Thanks to all involved,
