COLLINS LANDING A Moroccan citizen allegedly wanted in Florida on several felony charges was arrested Monday at the port of entry here.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents arrested Yahia Tellat, 23, Kissimmee, Fla., on a warrant alleging battery, tampering with a witness, depriving a person access to 911 emergency dispatch and false imprisonment.
Agents said Mr. Tellat was headed to Ottawa, Ontario, when Canada Border Services Agency officers discovered the warrant. Officers refused him admission into Canada and notified their American counterparts that Mr. Tellat would be returning to the United States.
Agents verified the warrant and confirmed that Florida officials wanted to extradite him. He was turned over to state police custody pending extradition.
