To The Editor:
In February, members of the Ogdensburg Pride and Beautification Commission were inspired by a guest at our annual meeting. Brandi Joness love of Ogdensburg and her enthusiasm for instilling pride in the hometown of some of its younger residents was contagious. Thus the 2013 art camp was born.
This is a joint venture of the city Parks and Recreation Department and the Pride and Beautification Commission. The mission is two-fold: introduce or compliment what the kids already know about the grand masters of painting and use this knowledge to beautify our town in a home-grown way. The children under Brandis direction will be painting trash barrels for the city parks. Wont it be cool to place your trash in a Monet-inspired barrel? Art camp runs every Tuesday for kindergarten through sixth grade and every Thursday for seventh through 12th grade from 1 to 3:30 p.m. The cost is free. For more information call Parks and Rec 393-1980 or Brandi at 854-7342.
On Aug. 8 at 4 p.m., the newly painted cans will be revealed at Community Pride Night. You can party in the Greenbelt with music and the Seaway Valley Jumpers, and eat picnic supper food that will be available for purchase from Pride and Beautification Commission members. Please plan on joining us.
