F.X. Caprara delivers more than 100 white trucks to Fort Drum contractor

Twenty-one white pickup trucks, mostly Dodge RAMs, and four vans with Pennsylvania license plates have sat in the parking lot behind the Medical Arts Building, 171 Clinton St., for the past week. Though they have F.X. Caprara license plate holders, the north country auto dealer didn’t strike it rich.

An out-of-state government contractor completing work at Fort Drum has received more than 100 pickups delivered for the past two weeks at F.X. Caprara’s Dodge dealership on outer Washington Street, said William F. Caprara, co-owner of Caprara Bros. Mr. Caprara, who did not know the name of the company, said that his company made a large courtesy delivery for Chrysler to have the vehicles delivered in Watertown for workers to pick up. The company is believed to have leased the vehicles in Pennsylvania.

“We’re the closest RAM dealer to Fort Drum, and we think this is some type of contractor that needed trucks for this job,” Mr. Caprara said. “When the trucks come in, we basically wash them and put on the license plates when they go — that’s the extent of it. We’ve never been in contact with the company” that leased the trucks.
