The state Public Service Commission has scheduled two public hearings on its plan to create a second area code in the 315 region at 2 and 6 p.m. Aug. 6 at the Dulles State Office Building, 317 Washington St.
Hearings will start with an hourlong educational forum, followed by a public question-and-answer period.
Those who wish to comment during the public statement period will be asked to complete a card at the start of the meeting requesting time to speak. It is not necessary to make an appointment or present written material.
The PSC will accept comments through July 31 on its recommended plan to establish an overlay district in which new numbers would be assigned the new code and existing customers would keep the 315. Information has been cited suggesting the 315 code will run out of numbers by early 2015.
Comments may be sent to the Acting Secretary at email@example.com, or mailed to Jeffrey C. Cohen, Acting Secretary, New York State Public Service Commission, Three Empire State Plaza, Albany, New York, 12223-1350. People may also call PSCs toll-free opinion line at 1-800-335-2120.
