CANTON A Canton Democrat has challenged Independence Party petitions filed by Mary E. Rain, who is running against Democratic incumbent District Attorney Nicole M. Duvé.
Ms. Rain is also running on the Conservative and Republican lines.
The challenge filed Monday by Anne Monck was not specific, Democratic Election Commissioner Jennie H. Bacon said. Ms. Monck, who was not available for comment, has six days after filing the objection to lay out specifics, Mrs. Bacon said.
Ms. Rain said she did not know what the objection could be but that she did not intend to challenge Ms. Duvés petitions to run as a Democrat and on the Working Families Party line.
Ms. Rain said the Independence Party endorsed Ms. Duvé in the past but not this time.
Theyve endorsed me. I think it shows shes worried, Ms. Rain said. Im just going to run a clean race.
In another countywide race, a previous article implied that three candidates for coroner wanted to run on the Conservative line. The two candidates who filed Conservative Party petitions were June H. Wood and Kevin J. Crosby.
The article also provided the wrong party line for Steve Burke, who is running for Macomb supervisor. He is a Democrat.
