Watertown woman injured in early-morning crash in Copenhagen

COPENHAGEN — A Watertown woman was flown to a Syracuse hospital following a one-car crash at 2:15 a.m. Thursday on Route 12 near the village limits.

Lewis County sheriff’s deputies said Sierra B. Weston, 20, of 402 Lincoln St., was driving northwest just entering the village when she drove off the left side of the road, hit a utility pole, then went an additional 150 feet before coming to a stop in front of a residence.

Ms. Weston was taken by helicopter to Upstate Medical University, Syracuse, for treatment of unspecified injuries.

A passenger in the vehicle, Lucinda M. Branch, 19, of 330 E. Moulton St., Watertown, was treated at the scene by Lewis County Search and Rescue personnel and refused further medical attention, deputies said.

Ms. Branch was charged with underage possession of alcohol and consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle, answerable in Denmark Town Court.

The investigation is continuing, deputies said. Copenhagen firefighters assisted at the scene.
