MENACING - MASSENA - Village police charged James K. Morris, 72, of 63 Sycamore St., Massena, with second-degree menacing at 7:40 p.m. Thursday on Sycamore Street after he was involved in a dispute with his daughter. Morris was arraigned by Acting Massena Village Justice James M. Crandall and sent to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility with bail set at $1,000 cash or $2,000 bond.
He allegedly entered his daughter Karens bedroom at approximately 7:20 p.m., asked her when she was going to move, pulled a utility knife out of his pocket, opened the blade and threatened to kill her. Karen, 38, told police she was lying on her bed when the incident occurred and her father approached her with the knife by his waist after he made the threat.
Her sister, Sherry, was on the porch, heard her sister screaming and intervened, according to court documents. Sherry told police she grabbed her father by the wrist and pushed him away from her sister. He then left the residence a short time later and threw the knife as police arrived at the domestic dispute complaint.
