Mr. and Mrs. Richard J. Pond, 25 years


Mr. and Mrs. Richard J. Pond, 17032 Route 11, will observe their 25th wedding anniversary Tuesday. They will hold a private celebration.

Mr. Pond, son of Rosamund E. Pond, Watertown, and the late Donald F. Pond, married Lorrie A. Riley, daughter of Michael J. Riley and Sarah J. Riley, both of Watertown, on July 23, 1988, at the home of Howard George, justice of the peace, who officiated. Honor attendants were Sidney A. Pond III, Watertown, brother of the groom, and Carol (Pond) Hatchell, Watertown, sister of the groom.

Mr. Pond graduated in 1980 from Watertown High School. He worked in construction for five years for Purcell Construction then 14 years at Samaritan Medical Keep Home before becoming disabled with cancer of the spinal cord. While at Samaritan, he received several medals, plaques and trophies. Mr. Pond was a runner for many years and enjoys fishing, camping and spending time with family.

Mrs. Pond graduated in 1985 from Copenhagen Central School, received her New York State licensed practical nursing certificate and graduated in 2007 from Jefferson Community College, Watertown, with a degree in arts. She specializes in in-home care. Mrs. Pond enjoys helping and spending time with family.

The couple has two sons and a daughter-in-law, Eric J. and Jocelyn E. (Yost), Fort Hood, Texas, and Matthew S., Syracuse; and one grandson.
