Shirley A. Silver, 78, of Mattydale, died peacefully Monday evening at home. Born in Ogdensburg, NY, Shirley lived in Mattydale since 1966. She was an alumnae of St. Lawrence State Hospital School of Nursing and Syracuse University School of Nursing where she received her B.S. in Nursing.
Shirley was an Instructor of Nursing at both Utica State Hospital School of Nursing and Alfred University from 1969 until her retirement in September 1990. She was a School Nurse in a supervisory position for the Syracuse City School District. Shirley was a past member of the Beta Kappa Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma International. She belonged to Tuscarora Golf Club and the Syracuse Teachers Bowling League for a number of years.
Shirley was predeceased in 2010 by her longtime friend, Sally Bichè, with whom she resided for many years. Surviving are several cousins, one of whom is Judge George E. Silver of Ogdensburg, NY; and nieces, nephews, and loving neighbors.
