RAYMONDVILLE - The Norfolk Post 925 Rovers dropped a 12-4 decision to the Ogdensburg Maples in an U19 baseball matchup at Memorial Field in Raymondville on Tuesday.
Cody Smith started and took the loss on the hill as the Rovers slipped to 10-13 on the season. Jordan LaShomb and Brandon Noble pitched in relief.
Geoff Baldwin, Jordan Miller and Seth Pinkerton combined to work the mound for the Maples, who built a 3-0 lead through two innings and never looked back for the win.
LaShomb and Noble connected for two hits each in the losing cause while Isaiah Dillabough had a solo hit. Spencer Woodard, who was called upon to switch uniforms prior to the game so that the Rovers could field nine players, came around to score a run.
Lefty Arsenault (2 runs scored) and Pat Cosmo both tripled and singled in a balanced offense for the Maples. Andrew Cole and Breton LaRose connected for two hits apiece as well while Bryant Wentworth, Dakota Brady and Baldwin all singled and scored a pair of runs. Kinnon LaRose contributed a two-run single in the first inning.
The Rovers are slated to head to Ogdensburg on Sunday to compete in a one-day tournament hosted by the Maples at Father Martin Field. Gouverneur and Peru are also expected to field teams.
