CJ’s-Chip’s Place booters outlast Hoot Owl-NCSB


CANTON - CJ’s-Chip’s Place outlasted Hoot Owl-North Country Savings Bank 2-1 in a North Country Men’s Summer Soccer matchup on Wednesday.

Tony Betrus opened the scoring late in the first half when he relayed a long centering pass from Ryan Betrus. Shawn Lillie made it 2-0 in the second half off an assist from Grant Sharlow before Travis Jordan cut the deficit to one when he converted from Repton Adams.

Ben Steinberg turned aside 17 shots backstopping the win while Trevor Zellweger made 10 saves working the Hoot Owl-NCSB crease.

In other Wednesday evening action; Pepsi-The Place outscored CKON-Signs and Stitches 8-1, Frary Funeral Home edged SeaComm 1-0, S&L Electric downed Massena Savings and Loan 4-1 and St. Lawrence FCU battled AMP-Jreck Subs to a 2-2 draw.

Pepsi-The Place 8, CKON-Sign and Stitches 1: At the Kennedy School field in Ogdensburg, Pepsi-The Place scored four goals in the first half and held a shutout until Storm Adams scored on a penalty kick with seven minutes left in regulation. Mike O’Neil and Jordan Decker each scored twice. Brek Murray, Andrew Para and Conor Hannan each netted singletons. Jake Sias had five saves.

Zach Smith made 13 saves for CKON (1-8-3).

Frary’s 1, SeaComm 0: Jordan Spears converted on a rebound to account for the only goal of the game.

Jordan Kendall turns aside 11 shots working the crease for SeaComm.

S&L Electric 4, Massena S&L 1: Scott Boyce, Alex Bonno, Russ Koster and Devin Dulmage scored for S&L Electric. Jeremy Dunning recorded two assists while Mike Bonno and Dan Knight each contributed a solo helper.

Brian Jacks scored the lone Massena S&L goal off an assist from Ryan Chauvin.

SLFCU 2, AMP-Jreck Subs 2: SLFCS goals were scored by Shaun Murray and Curtis Wood with assists going to Bryan Seymour and Mike McDonell while goalie Nolan Fletcher made 8 saves.


A North Country Women’s Summer Soccer matchup on Tuesday saw Massena blank Harrisville 4-0. Kathleen Kassian netted two goals while Renelle Garlach and Lindsay French each tallied singletons. Marci Silver drew a pair of assists. Dominique Valancius and Natalie Pesold each logged solo helpers.
