Motorists accused of DWI

The following were charged with driving while intoxicated and related offenses:

n Derek P. LaDuc, 31, Hands Flats Road, Harrisville, was charged by Lewis County sheriff’s deputies with aggravated DWI, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, failure to keep right, consuming alcohol in a motor vehicle, moving from lane unsafely, making an improper turn at an intersection and driving while using a cellphone after he was involved in a property-damage accident about 8 p.m. Saturday on Maple Street in Harrisville.

Mr. LaDuc had a blood alcohol content of 0.23 percent, deputies said. A BAC of 0.08 percent or more is considered proof of intoxication under state law, while 0.18 percent is the state threshold for aggravated DWI.

He then backed into a driveway, where his car became disabled, they said. No injuries were reported.

n Ross J. Giarratano, 23, Pittston, Pa., was charged by state police Saturday night on County Route 6 in the town of Morristown.

Police said Mr. Giarratano’s vehicle crossed the center line a few times. His BAC was listed as 0.17 percent.

n Bonnie M. Cardinal, 54, Rome, also was charged by Lowville police with driving while using a cellphone at 7:55 p.m. Wednesday on South State Street. Her BAC was not available.

n Grant W. Gould III, 44, of 114 Prospect St., Gouverneur, also was charged by St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies with failure to keep right Thursday on Prospect Street, Gouverneur. His BAC was listed as 0.16 percent.
