Town Board ignores worthwhile events

I am writing to commend two local businesses, Woods Farm and River Haven, who together invested more than $2 million into expansion and upgrade projects.

Both farms support our local economy in so many ways. They provide more than 30 full-time jobs, hire local contractors, utilize local banks and insurance companies, and pay taxes on well more than 1,000 acres of land.

Invitations were posted in local papers for their recent open houses. More than 500 people from the community attended to take advantage of the tours, enjoy lunch and express their appreciation for all they do. U.S. Rep. Bill Owens stopped by as well as the commissioner of NYS Ag & Markets and representatives of Cornell University.

However, not one member of the Cape Vincent Town Board took the time or made the effort to come and show their interest or appreciation. I guess it’s true what everyone says, “If it’s not about them, they just don’t care.” How sad.

To the Woods and Mason families, please know the community cares even if the Town Board doesn’t.
