Officials in Adams have set good example

I was very impressed with the article in the section of Letters from the People in the Watertown Daily Times on July 26. It was about how Adams must wait to fund the fire hall project.

It was more than nice and shows that its elected and appointed officials in Adams put their community members ahead of themselves. They realize that yes, there are tough times for many people living in Adams and in the north country as well.

Not only does it appear that those working for or are to represent us have their heads on straight and know how to pick what are the priorities for the moment. My hat goes off to the authors, who are members of the Adams Planning Board. This fine gesture needs to be what is intended in the minds of anyone who is either elected or appointed to serve and not to be served.

In all fairness and this isn’t sour grapes at all, I wish I was saying the same or similar in reference to what goes on here in Henderson. I do not have to list what is meant by this. Our local officials and appointed members know too well what I mean.

Don’t get me wrong here; it’s not the people of Henderson. I found this out at our recent Memorial Day parade for being honored as a Korean War veteran plus being a senior citizen at the same time. I must not forget that I wasn’t alone in that parade.

There were two other Henderson senior citizens or war veterans being honored as well. Several people even came up to us while in the parade and said thank you for what we had done.

I personally thank you or the many good people of Henderson and in the north country for this great honor. It is said that we cannot chose our relatives, but certainly can pick who represents us at times and even when they may be already handpicked and there isn’t any big choice at all.
