ALEXANDRIA BAY The American Red Cross of Northern New York will honor volunteers and supporters at 6 p.m. Tuesday during a celebration at the Scenic View Park Pavilion.
People from Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence counties will be recognized for their humanitarian efforts involving local, state and national emergencies, disasters or other needs.
The Red Cross mission is to alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors, Chapter Jane G. Gendron said in a prepared statement. We accomplish that mission only because of the dedication of our volunteers who make themselves available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies.
Volunteers comprise a majority of the agencys workforce in the north country.
