MORRISTOWN - The Morristown Gateway Museum Quilt Show and Bridal Gown Display is opening today and runs until Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.

The show, which is hosted by the 309 Main St. museum once every three years, never features the same quilt twice, museum board member Susan Wilson said.

That guarantees a fresh look at local quilt creations at every show and this year, with 60 quilts from quilters across the county, is no exception, she said. The quilt show features recent works by local quilters as well as family heirlooms – some more than 100 years old, Mrs. Wilson said.

The show will also feature a quilt raffle. The prize quilt was made by Ruth Bogardus and donated to the museum for the event.

Tickets for the quilt raffle can be purchased at the museum. Tickets are $2 each or $5 for three.

A gift box will also be raffled. Tickets for the gift box are $1 each or $5 for seven.

The bridal gown display on the second floor of the museum features 14 gowns from 1883 to 2000.

“It’s a big draw,” board member M. Patricia Reagen said of the quilt show and gown exhibit.

The shows at the museum are free to the public, but donations are welcomed.

The museum is open Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Other events hosted by the museum can be found on its website, www.morristowngatewaymuseum.org.
