North country school cafeterias will not be a part of the Greek yogurt pilot that will be used in New York, Tennessee, Idaho and Arizona.
The pilot was originally spread throughout the state.
For the initial pilot program that will run in October and November, the (U.S. Department of Agriculture) set the minimum number of cases that a district needed to order at 420 cases, said state Office of General Services spokeswoman Heather Groll. In light of that minimum order and the shelf life of yogurt, it was determined that focusing the initial program on four larger districts would be best.
Districts that are large enough to be included for the program are in Long Island, Poughkeepsie, the capital region and Buffalo.
