Pub Golf Tourney Aids OBGC

CANTON - A run of 21 years of the Jack K. Newman American Heart Association Golf Tournament will come to an end this year.

Instead, the Newman family invites family, friends and golf teams to join them in a day of memory and celebration on Thursday Aug. 8 at the St. Lawrence University Golf Course.

Please call the golf course to reserve a tee time at 386-4600. Tee times will be available all day for 9 and 18 holes, beginning at 7 a.m., for regular green fees.

The American Heart Association will have a display with information, brochures and personnel to answer any questions. Anyone wishing to make a donation to this worthy cause will be able to do so. There will also be a 50/50 raffle and some prize drawings at 3:30 p.m.

Pub Tourney For OBGC

“The Pub” will be sponsoring it’s Seventh Annual Golf Tournament to benefit the Ogdensburg Boys and Girls Club on Saturday, August 10th at 10 a.m. with a shotgun start at Langbrook Meadows Golf Course.

Cost of the Captain and Crew event is $280 per foursome and includes golf, cart, lunch, prizes and dinner at “The Pub” following the event catered by Wade Morrill and Greg Conger.

There will be prizes in Men’s, Womens and Mixed Divisions. Pre-paid registration is being accepted at the OBGC or at “The Pub.” For further information or to enter a team call the OBGC at 393-1241 or The Pub at 323-6571.

Championship

MASSENA - On Aug. 8, the Northern New York Men’s and Women’s Senior Golf Championship will be held at he Massena Country Club. The organizers of the event thank the Community Bank, N.A. for sponsoring the tournament.

The tournament will have over $3,500 in prizes to be awarded to the net, gross, and special prize winners. Last year over 170 golfers played in the event.The tournament will be divided into six flights. The flights include: 50 to 54 years of age, 55 to 59 years of age, 60 to 64 years of age, 65 to 69 years of age, 70 to 74 years of age, and 75 years and older. Prizes will be awarded to both net and gross winners.

The day will begin with a 12:30 p.m. shotgun start and will conclude with a dinner and awards ceremony at approximately 5:30 p.m.

The entry fee includes the cart fee and is $47 for Massena Country Club members and $65 for non-members. For anyone who would like to walk, the entry fee is $35 for members and $50 for non-members. The entry fee covers the entire day’s activities.

Kangaroos Golf Classic

CANTON - The SUNY Canton athletic department will host the 12th annual Kangaroos Golf Classic on August 10th at Partridge Run Golf and Country Club in Canton.

The cost is $75 per person and the format is a four-man captain and crew. Teams will be flighted based on handicaps and teams can be all male, female or mixed. There will be a shotgun start at 11 a.m.

The entry fee includes 18 holes of golf and a cart, a hot dog and drink on the course, a tournament gift and gift bag, and a steak dinner at the course provided by Mulligans immediately after the tournament. Cost for guests at the dinner is $20. There will be first, second and third place prizes in each flight, hole-in-one prizes, putting contests, closest to the pin contests, longest and straightest drive contests and Par 3 Poker for cash.

Moose Lodge Benefits Wounded Warriors

HEUVELTON - The Ogdensburg Moose Lodge is holding a golf tournament on Aug. 31 at the Gilbert Greens CC at 10 a.m. The tournament will be captain and crew format and costs $260 per team to enter. First prize is $300, second prize is $200 and third is $100.

A hole in one will bring in $10,000. There will also be prizes for the longest drive and closest to the pin. The tournament will benefit the Wounded Warriors. Hamburgers and hotdogs will be available on the course and pizza and wings will be served afterwards at the Moose Lodge.

Higley Flow Golf

The 13th annual Higley Flow Golf Outing will be held Aug. 14 with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. at the Partridge Run Golf Course in Canton. All golfers are welcome. The cost is $180 per team or $45 per person. Proceeds will benefit the Two Rivers Ecumenical Council.
