POTSDAM — Joseph L. Rotella, 24, Potsdam, was charged Friday by Potsdam village police with second-degree unlawful imprisonment, third-degree attempted assault and second-degree harassment in connection with an incident Monday on Lawrence Avenue.

Police said Mr. Rotella restrained an unidentified victim on a bed, prevented the victim from leaving by throwing the victim’s car keys, and struck the victim several times on the head and body, causing bruising to the chest, back, arms and legs.

Police said that the victim reported the incident Wednesday and that Mr. Rotella turned himself in on Friday.

He is under the supervision of probation.
