CLAYTON The 36th annual Clayton-Thousand Islands Gun and Sportsmen Show this weekend will feature new and antique firearms, military history collectibles, hunting knives and sporting gear for outdoor enthusiasts.
Roland A. Bud Baril, an organizer of the show, said seven to eight more vendors are expected to participate in this years event to be held Saturday and Sunday at Cerow Recreation Park Arena, East Line Road.
Giving the show an interesting twist will be Fourth Coast Inc., a renewable energy consulting firm based in Clayton, that will be showcasing how to use solar energy systems to power cabins in remote areas or for those who want to take their seasonal property off the grid.
Mr. Baril said more gun dealers and an ammunition supplier will take part in the show as well.
Everything from scopes to gun cleaning kits will be on sale at the event, in addition to decoys, fishing tackle and leather goods for anglers.
Some 60 gunsmiths, guides and vendors will participate in this years event.
The annual show an Operation Yellow Ribbon event for the military, which includes a chicken barbeque fundraiser benefits scholarship programs and service work of the Clayton Rotary Club.
Show hours will be 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
Admission is $5 for adults, $4 with military identification. Children under 12 are free.
