Child abducted from Pennsylvania located north of Watertown; Suspects in custody

NORWOOD - The Pennsylvania State Police activated the New York State AMBER Alert and is investigating a confirmed child abduction that occurred on Oak Street in Gordon, Pa., at 4:30 p.m. Thursday with the suspect believed to be heading to Norwood.

St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department radio transmissions at 10:30 p.m. Thursday indicated the vehicle had been located and suspects were in custody. The vehicle was located in Gouverneur. State police transmissions said the child had been located as well and was safe.

The child involved in the abduction, Alexandria Jade Long, is a white female, approximately 10 years old with short, brown hair and hazel eyes. She is approximately 4 feet 10 inches tall and weighs about 100 pounds. Alexandria was last seen wearing black wire framed glasses.

The suspect, Peter Tarbox, is a white male, approximately 39 years old. The AMBER Alert and state police radio transmissions indicate Tarbox is a passenger in a tan Dodge Intrepid with registration EGC 3985 being operated by Annette Williams, 6 Maple St., Norwood. The vehicle was seen traveling north on I-81 near Syracuse and the latest updates indicated the vehicle was north of Watertown, possibly heading for Norwood.

The suspect is the former acquaintance of the abducted child’s mother from seven years ago. The suspect is a stranger to the child.

Anyone with any information on this abduction is asked to call the Pennsylvania State Police at (866)NYS-AMBER or dial 911 to provide information on a report or sighting.
