Mr. and Mrs. Gordon C. Harper, 14675 Hermitage Road, Lake Bonaparte, and winter residents of Tavares, Fla., observed their 65th wedding anniversary on July 18. They celebrated with a dinner with family at their Lake Bonaparte home.
Mr. Harper, son of the late William Harper and Violet Harper Dionne, married Eleanor E. Fleming, daughter of the late Glen and Ethel Fleming, on July 18, 1948, at Copenhagen Congregational Church. Honor attendants were the late Dorothy Fleming Carter, sister of the bride, and the late Robert Harper, brother of the groom.
Mrs. Harper graduated from Copenhagen Central School and later took classes at Jefferson Community College, Watertown. She enjoys reading, gardening, kayaking and volunteer work.
Mr. Harper attended West Carthage High School and served in the Navy aboard the aircraft carrier USS Randolph during World War II. He worked for Snap-On Tool Corporation for 33 years prior to retirement. He enjoys golfing, vintage cars, boating and maintaining their homes.
The couple has three children, Randall Harper and Holly Harper McElhearn, both of Carthage, and Melissa Harper, Lititz, Pa.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
