Massena man charged with criminal mischief after punching ex-girlfriend’s vehicle

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF - MASSENA - Village police charged Terry R. Deshane, 23, of 12 Bishop Ave., Massena, with fourth-degree criminal mischief and endangering the welfare of a child Monday following an investigation into an incident that took place Sunday afternoon with his son’s mother. He reportedly pounded on the hood of his ex-girlfriend’s hood, causing minor damage, and smashed the driver’s side mirror during the argument. The dispute reportedly took place while Amanda LaBier, North Lawrence, was holding their soon to be three-year-old son. Police said Ms. LaBier told them the argument started after Deshane informed her he wasn’t giving their child back to her. She said she left work and went to Deshane’s house to pick up the child. Deshane reportedly became upset and punched the mirror and hit the hood as the couple argued. Deshane was arraigned by Massena Town Justice Gerald P. Sharlow and released on his own recognizance. The court also signed a temporary order of protection directing Deshane not to harass, annoy or alarm Ms. LaBier. Deshane, who has no prior criminal history, was ordered to reappear Tuesday in Massena Village Court.
