LOUISVILLE – The St. Lawrence River Valley Redevelopment agency is looking to create four new jobs in Potsdam.
The River Agency, in partnership with St. Lawrence County Industrial Development Agency and the Local Development Corporation, has granted a $51,500 loan to First Class Aire, a company which offers heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, recycling and waste treatment services, with the expectation it will create four new jobs.
The company will help to reduce the waste stream by expanding the salvage and recycling capacity, according to the resolution which was adopted by the board Tuesday night. River Agency Chairman Robert O. McNeil and Thomas J. Carroll, Jr., were absent from the meeting.
Since First Class Aire moved into its 495 West Parishville Road location in February, it has been seeking additional capital in order to expand its services to include a commercial electronic waste facility, Deputy St. Lawrence County Industrial Development Agency CEO and Chief Financial Officer Thomas A. Plastino said.
The money will help the company buy new equipment and machinery such as a roll off containers and scales, leaving them more room to expand and hire more help, Mr. Plastino said.
The company has a plan to hire three full-time and two part-time seasonal workers. The loan will also help retain four new jobs that were already created by the company, Mr. Plastino said.
Obviously, some of their work takes place seasonally, so the amount of workers will depend on the interest and weather, Mr. Plastino said.
