A Vermont man has been named in a grand jury indictment alleging that he repeatedly sexually abused two children over a seven-month period in the town of Rutland.
Kristopher M. Royce, 23, Springfield, Vt., is charged with two counts of first-degree course of sexual conduct. The charges were contained in an indictment unsealed Wednesday in Jefferson County Court.
It is alleged that between September 2005 and February 2006 he engaged in several sexual acts with two children, starting when one, a boy, was age 5 and the second a girl, age 7. The alleged incidents occurred in Briarwood Apartments in Black River, according to state police, which participated in a year-and-a-half investigation with police in Vermont.
He pleaded not guilty to the charges and was sent to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building by Supreme Court Judge James P. McClusky on $25,000 bail.
