The Lodge Restaurant in Morristown is back on the market

MORRISTOWN - The Lodge Restaurant is on the market again after a potential buyer was unable to pull together the necessary funds to follow through with a purchase earlier this summer.

Owner Lorraine M. Larose said the deal with the potential buyer “just had to be dissolved.”

The name of the person who expressed interest in the property earlier this year is not known.

“They were all gung ho but they just couldn’t come up with the finances,” Mrs. Larose said.

Previously Mrs. Larose was working with Bruyere Chadwick Realty, Ogdensburg, but she said she is currently selling the property on her own.

“We just decided that it’s tying us down,” Mrs. Larose said of selling through a real estate broker.

The restaurant building, located at 3792 Route 37, just outside the village, sits on 18 acres of land, Mrs. Larose said.

The restaurant has been vacant since 2011. Mrs. Larose said she was disappointed when last summer’s deal to sell fell apart.

Mrs. Larose leased the building to Christopher Armstrong and his family between 2007 and 2011.

Mrs. Larose said she is hoping to sell the building outright, but she is open to leasing it as well.

“We’re going to play it by ear,” she said of the price of the property. “It’s negotiable. We’re not quoting a price right now because it depends.”

Anyone interested in purchasing or leasing the building should call Mrs. Larose at 393-0149.
