Republicans have made government better

There are signs around town asking have you had enough yet. We had enough of the backroom deals, conflicts of interest and waterlines to nowhere.

We’ve had enough of scandals at the transfer station, the candidate they supported who stole $30,000. We had enough of the board passing resolutions to limit people’s right to vote, slush funds and not wanting an audit. We’ve had enough.

A few years ago, the Republicans took back their party to represent the people. We had voter registration drives and fundraisers that we never had before. We then voted out all the conflicted board members.

We now have a supervisor who believes in open and transparent government. We have three councilmen and a councilwomen who are intelligent, respected members of our town representing us.

Thanks to the current board, all the meetings are filmed. And for those of us who can’t make the meetings, we get to watch it on the computer. Imagine that. One only has to watch these videos to see what we had and what we got now.

The fine folks who Harold Wiley refers to as seasonal; the same people he called unethical, immoral and bordering on illegal. Harold Wiley also sent letters to all the out-of-town assessors claiming Star Program fraud; neither was ever proven.

The Republican Party wants you. We want you to be informed and involved.

We want you to vote and re-elect the people we have now. We would also like the help of the Democrats who don’t agree with Harold Wiley or the CFG. Their candidates, if elected, would only mean a dysfunctional board and a step back to what we had.

In closing, Mr. Hirschey once elected on his own went to New York and Albany to attend classes on how to do the job. Had any of his predecessors done that?

One has to ask how qualified are the people they are running against him. Folks, in all elected positions, shouldn’t life accomplishments be more important than the fact you were merely born here?

We are all residents. Please remember to vote in the Sept. 10 primary.
