To The Editor:
I would like to make a statement in reference to the proposed library for the Brasher Falls area.
First I like to say something about the folks who came door to door collecting signatures on a petition for the library. They were not exactly forthcoming with the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth as to what this would mean for the land owners in the Brasher Falls area.
The truth is this will cause a 14 plus percent increase in our land taxes which are to cover the annual expense of around $57,000. These are just a couple of the details the folks collecting the signatures were not sharing and along with these I found out that if sometime later the library fails and closes up the land owners of Brasher Falls will be responsible to continue paying the $57,000 a year to the Massena library forever.
As it is our school has an extensive library of its own. So instead of putting another tax burden on the land owners of the Brasher Falls area, lets encourage our children and the folks of our community to utilize what we are already paying for. So just say no to more taxes.
