Forrest M. Pitts


Forrest Mark Pitts of 44 Colby Rd., Star Lake, NY died August 27, 2013 at his home. Forrest was born May 21, 1958, son of Howard Rodney Pitts and Glenna Belle Smith who predeceased him. He graduated from Clifton-Fine Central School and served in the US Air Force from 1976-1981. On August 18, 1984, Forrest married Naomi Smithers.

Forrest was most recently employed as a millwright for Local 1163. Prior to that, he worked at St. Lawrence Zinc. Before that, Forrest worked for Jenkins Construction. Forrest owned and operated NF Pitts Construction and worked for the NY DOT. He also worked for Cranberry Lake Builders prior to that.

Forrest was a member of the Sons of the Legion, Mervin Eno Post. He was a former member of the Star Lake Fire Department and the Clifton-Fine Lions Club. He enjoyed hunting and skiing and being with family and friends.

Survivors of Forrest are his wife Naomi and four daughters: Martha Kimberly Elizabeth Grant and her husband Daniel of Henrietta, NY; Krystal Ann Pitts of Watertown, NY; Samantha Kathleen Pitts of Oswegatchie, NY; and Amanda Joy Pitts of Star Lake, NY. Forrest was survived by two brothers: Stephen Pitts of Burlington, VT and Michael Pitts and his wife Cheryl of Albany, NY. Forrest had five grandchildren: Madeline Booth, Julianna Welling, Jonathan Booth, Emma Grant and Aiden Grant.

Calling hours are Saturday, August 31st, 2-4 and 6- 9 at the Hawley’s Funeral Home in Star Lake. The funeral will be at the funeral home Sunday at 3 pm. Burial will follow the service at the Oswegatchie Cemetery with a military honor guard. Donations may be made to Hope Lodge, Burlington, VT or Sons of the Legion, Star Lake, NY.
