HENDERSON — An equipment malfunction at a National Grid substation near here left 8,132 customers without power early Friday morning.

Spokesman Patrick D. Stella said the outage began around 6:30 a.m.

Affected communities include Henderson, Belleville, Adams, Adams Center, Rodman, Smithville, Sackets Harbor, Lorraine, Mannsville and Ellisburg.

Power was returned to some of the affected areas before 8 a.m. and all power is expected to be restored by 11 a.m.

Spokeswoman Virginia J. Limmiatis said this power outage is unrelated to other power outages that occurred throughout the same part of Jefferson County earlier this summer.

“As far as we can tell, it’s not related to heat,” she said. “Heat does cause issues when it’s prolonged. Equipment malfunctions happen regularly.”
