NORFOLK: Norman J. Laneuville, 76, of Fayette Road, passed away on September 1, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Norman was born on June 8, 1937 in Massena the son of Donat and Yvonne Levasseur Laneuville.
Norman married his beloved wife Ellen Irene Davis on July 7, 1956 at Sacred Heart Church; Mrs. Laneuville predeceased him on July 13, 1994 after 37 years of marriage. He owned and operated the Norms Shell Gas Station in Massena for over 30 years and later was the co-owner of Bottle Redemption Grocery Store on East Orivs St. Massena. Norman was the founder of St.Lawrence County Gas Association. He also worked for Local International 322 as a foreman. In his free time Norm was the manager of bingo at St. Josephs Church, he was a life member of the Massena Moose Lodge, and Local 322 Laborers Union. His hobbies included splitting twos and doubling down in a game of black jack. He was one of the firstcoaches of Massena Womens Softball League founded by his wife Ellen. Normans survivors include his companion Beverly Randall Ghostlaw ofMassena, his children; Norman J. Jr.and Fran of Syracuse, NY, Vanessa Ferrance of Massena, Michele Bonville of Rochester, Leonard J. and Tish of Massena; Richie and Nancy Ferrance of Elwood City, PA, Scott and JoAnne of Massena, David and companion Amanda Ryan of Massena, Denise Y. Laneuville and Marshall Tiernan of Waddington, and Jerry J. of Massena; also surviving Norman are Beverlys loving children, Ron, Marcy, Dale and Debbie Mathews, and 17 grandchildren. Sisters Cecile Vaughn of Glens Falls, NY; Marguerite Green; Mary Jeanne Richards both of Massena,Louise and Gilbert Harvey of Syracuse, and a brother Henry of Ocala, FL. He was predeceased by his siblings, Albert, Paul, and sisters, Francisand Theresa. Memorial contributions may be made to St.Lawrence Count Office of the Aging, Hospice and Palliative Care of St.Lawrence Valley or Massena Rescue Squad. Calling hours for Norman Laneuville will be held on Sept. 6, 2013 from 4 -9 pm at Phillips Memorial Home in Massena. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, at 12:00 pm at St.Josephs Church with Rev. Jack Downs presiding. Pall bearers for Norman will be his beloved sons. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery.
